Just after the blog post from last night, our sweet Molly threw up. And then she did four more times during the night. So our best night of sleep in China was followed by our worst night of sleep in China. Thankfully, Jack slept through it all! He did not wake up until 6:30am. I heard a noise, looked up, and it was Jack touching the sheets on our bed from his crib. I sat up and looked at him. He was awake, sucking his thumb, not crying. He reached for me when he saw me. Melt my heart!
We spent the morning at our hotel, which was nice because Molly need to rest. We watched Chinese cartoons for hours. Somehow the kids were memorized.
All day long, Jack has been eating. He eats and eats and eats, literally putting as much in his mouth as possible. I've read about this, but seeing it in person is mind blowing. For a two year old to be eating like he has never eaten before, it's hard to watch. I do think we are making baby steps, though. By the evening, he would eat his food in smaller bites. He is also still struggling with having his clothes changed, but we are seeing baby steps of progress there too. He also has wanted to either be held or be right beside Mama or Baba all day. Such sweet snuggles. I love it and feel so grateful that he is responding to us so well.
Leah is being an amazing big sister. Today, she started singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in Chinese to Jack and he started singing with her so happily!! Sweetest moment of the whole day!!
Breakfast time:
Matt started out feeding him, but then he wanted to feed himself.
He ate the entire bowl. Every last bit. It is corn congee. Congee is a popular Chinese breakfast dish. It is a little bit like rice porridge.
After lunch, we went back to the Civil Affairs office to finalize his adoption.
As of today, Qian Qiu Sheng is officially ours in China!
After the ceremony where we put our fingerprints on the paperwork and promised to never abandon or neglect our son, they gave us nice chopsticks with this written on the outside. :)
Jack got to Facetime with Daniel tonight! They were very interested in the cars/trucks that they each had. It made me miss our sweet Daniel. I can not wait to have our two boys together!
We talked to the International Doctor tonight and he got us some medicine for Molly to help her keep food down. And he is open 24 hours if we need him. God is so good! Love this chance to see Him in the details, to lean into him, to see how he cares for his children. So blessed to be on this journey.
This is the view out our window tonight. Chongqing is amazing.
Please keep praying for us! When we are tired and the moments are hard, it is a huge comfort that so many people are praying for us. Pray for Jack's attachment to us - specifically for progress in the areas of food and clothes. Pray for Molly to recover from being sick. Pray for Leah as she is being such a good big sister that God would work in her heart and also for her continued health. Pray for Matt and I for endurance, stamina, sleep, wisdom, faith, and anything else you can think of. And praise God for all of his amazing provisions for us so far!
